“NaHawa Doumbia was born in Mafele near the border of the Ivory Coast. She was discovered at an early age winning a singing contest which, in turn, brought her government support to develop her style, based on the traditional Didadi rhythm of her native region.
In 1988 she released her first album “Didadi” and has recorded a number of albums over the years. NaHawa is a feminist, her lyrics take a stand against polygamy and promotes the rights of women and children.”
